For a while now, I've been using KWalletManager5 (15.08.3) provided by the latest version of Debian testing (Stretch), into which I successfully ported my passwords. I just discovered that Konqueror, however, continues to save passwords to ~/.kde/share/apps/kwallet/kdewallet.kwl as it is still a KF4 program. However, I cannot open this file in KWalletManager5. When I try to, it prompts for a password but gives me a -9 error message saying that the password is probably wrong. This is impossible, as is the .kwl file being corrupted, because Konqueror can easily read and write to kdewallet.kwl.

I need the passwords from this file, so either KWalletManager5 needs to be fixed to allow this or I need a workaround to dump the passwords from this file into plain text.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Konqueror and navigate to a page requiring a username and password
2. Konqueror prompts to open kdewallet.kwl. Konqueror can easily read and write to this file and fill in the web page's fields
3. Close Konqueror and attempt any of the following
3a. Import kdewallet.kwl from KWalletManager5
3b. Open kdewallet.kwl directly within Dolphin
3c. Replace existing .kwl files in ~/.local/share/kwalletd/ and try to open them from within KWalletManager

Actual Results:  
KWalletManager prompts for a password to open the .kwl file. The correct password is entered but error -9 pops up saying that the password is incorrect.

Expected Results:  
I can get at my passwords!

Fixed the problem using comments 6 and 8 on https://barlog.rusu.info/valentin/blog/?p=300 , which I only discovered after at least 6 excruciating hours searching and trying to pick Konqueror apart. To prevent others from suffering as I have, can we please put something in the readme or documentation that clearly states that this is how kwallet works in KF5 and it's the ONLY known way to get passwords that weren't initially migrated?

It sure has! I've since abandoned Konqueror and KWallet in favour of Firefox and PasswordStore.org, so I can't reproduce.
