When I press save or save as on Kate, the application will instantly quit without warning, all code or scripts I have written are instantly lost. I am using XFCE 4.1.2 (standard desktop version not Mint version) on LInux Mint 17.3 Rosa.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Kate in XFCE 4.1.2 desktop environment
2. Press Save or Save As


Actual Results:  
The program will quit without any warning.

Expected Results:  
Ask where to save the file and assign it a name.

i have labelled this as a critical error because I lost a substantial amount of code when it quit. I have tested it many times and the same error happens each time.

Which version of Kate are you using?

Would it be possible for you to test with the latest versions of everything? Ie.:
Kate 16.04.2
KDE Frameworks 5.23.0
Qt 5.7

I don't have such issues with any KF5 version, please try to update to some recent (16.04 or 16.08) version, if that still happens (which I hope it doesn't) reopen, thanks!
