Both the snap to grid and non-overlapping widgets are a conscious design decision and not subject to change. I agree that the resizing of widgets while repositioning them is awkward/unexpected at times, though. Can this be reopened ? It may be intentional design but I think it should be more flexible. I'm designing a widget that actually requires overlapping for it's function (see https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=175149 ). The default behaviour probably makes sense (ie, the "intentional design"), that's fine. The logic that happens when I put a widget on top of another is really nice. The widget sort of "drops" to the side and becomes smaller. But it needs a toggle somewhere to toggle snapping to grid on/off and overlapping widgets on/off. |
