Description Jorum 2016-02-17 11:24:59 UTC
Hi every one, I am using Mint 17.3 sara x64 with a KDE desktop but my software manager does  not start when i launch it, when i try getting packages from the konsole(terminal) using apt-get, it gives me these errors;
Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_trusty_multiverse_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Neither can i update, upgrade or purge any application on my mint, even when i use dpkg command, the errors persist . I'm really tired of this, i need help.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.launch the terminal
2.type "apt-get upgrade"
3.press the enter key

Actual Results:
i received these errors below;
Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_trusty_multiverse_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Expected Results:
upgrade the system

This project is unfortunately no longer maintained.

If a new maintainer wants to step up and take care, the project is archived here:

https://invent.kde.org/system/apper

You can just clone it in your private namespace on invent.kde.org and if you have started to work on it and fixed/implemented something get it reviewed and the project unarchived.

Sorry for the inconveniences.
