Can you reproduce the problem if you do it again? I have managed to cause plasma to hang for a while (15 seconds or more) by typing into the Application Launcher, but I only actually got the crash once. It might be relevant that I have 4 screens and 4 panels, each with an application launcher. I'm on OpenSuse Tumbleweed, and for the last few days when I come in in the morning, Plasmashell is chewing up ~ 24 GB of memory (my system has 32) and slightly more than 1 CPU core. I'm not sure if these problems are related, but they seem to have started occurring at the same time.
