Description kokotokosoko 2016-02-08 19:06:12 UTC
AltGr is ignored by the keyboard shortcuts widget.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open System Settings → Shortcuts → Custom Shortcuts
2. Right-click on list for New → Global Shortcut → Send Keyboard Input (for example, or any other option that requires a keyboard shortcut, as opposed to gestures or something else).
3. Focus on the Trigger tab
4. Click on the shortcut button
5. Attempt to use AltGr as a modifier key (e.g., AltGr+-)

Actual Results:
Nothing. I get ignored as if I didn't exist.

Expected Results:
I can use AltGr as modifier key, in the same way I can use Alt, Shift, Win, etc.

Please see also bug #295633 from 2012. I was aware of it, but since it's so old and never showed any activity …

Also I can't find a way, how to use AltGr in "Send text input" part. I want to enter the "|" character. In Czech layout I can do it with AltGr+Q. I've tried ALT+Q, ALTGR+Q, ALT_R+Q, but none work.

As announced in https://pointieststick.com/2023/07/26/what-we-plan-to-remove-in-plasma-6/ and https://community.kde.org/Plasma/Plasma_6#Removals, I'm afraid KHotKeys has reached end-of-life in Plasma 6. Accordingly, all bug reports and feature requests for it must be closed now.

Most of what KHotKeys could do can already be done with the newer KGlobalAccel system in Plasma 6. A few features such as mouse gestures and triggering conditions based on changes to window states are not yet implemented in the new system. These will be added in the future if and when resources materialize for them, and/or when a kind soul submits patches to implement them! :) Meanwhile, the 3rd-party "Mouse Actions" app (https://github.com/jersou/mouse-actions) may be usable for implementing your own mouse gestures again.

Thanks for your understanding, everyone.
