Timeline: set the timeline zone out point to the end you wish (the blue band) -> CTRL+space plays form the beginning. ALT+space loop the zone. I suppose that is a sufficient solution. Though I still feel it's more intuitive that pressing spacebar when the cursor is at the end of the timeline plays it from the beginning, I'm good with whatever the dev's decide.
