For some reason KMail appends extra characters to the ends of lines before sending.  I have used ethereal to verify that it is KMail doing this.

When word wrapping is enabled it looks like the following:

This is a test to see what happens with KMail and those annoying end of=20
line characters that it appears to be putting on messages.

When word wrapping is disabled it looks like the following:

This is a test without quoting to see if the thing still puts those annoy=
ing characters at the end of lines blah blah blah.

This makes KMail unusable with many mail clients and mailing lists.  I did a search of the RFC's to see if this is some sort of standard quoting / encoding but I didn't find anything on it.  If this is indeed a "feature" then it really needs an option to disable it and this should probably be the default.  Apparently several mail clients such as KMail and Outlook Express handle the characters in original messages but not from mailing lists.  I have no idea why.
