Labels are tags, technically in digiKam core database, but dedicated for specific tasks. - Color Labels to mark images with customized colored mark in workflow. - Pick Labels to mark wanted images with a flag while sorting. - Rating to mark images with stars after sorting. Tags are text annotation, not a graphical mark. LightRoom (and also other pro photo tools) use also "Labels" terms about graphical marks to apply on images, and "Tags" about text annotations.
