Description Charles T Bell 2016-01-12 22:45:19 UTC
For some reason my new m/b has only one ethernet port that is locked at eth3. For some reason ksysguard does not show any network activity when down/uploading.
I have an AMD64-8 (as in 8-cpus on the cpu chip) and it shows all of them just fine.
I am using 14.04 LTS Kubuntu.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run Ksysguard
2. Download any file or website
3. Watch network graph

Actual Results:
The network line remained flat-lined.

Expected Results:
It should have shown some network activity on the graph, you know a squiggly line from left to right.

I could not find a resource/config file to add the eth3 port, nor anything in the "configure ksysguard" menu.

So far, no one is concerned about this malfunction. Interesting! Why fix something that is obviously broken???
Ksysguard still cannot show eth3 activity!!!
When will someone pay attention???

So far, no one besides you has reported or confirmed this problem, so it might be something unusual with your setup, which KDE developers cannot reproduce.

You may as well closeout this bug report, since it isn't going to be addressed. I did find out, at last, how to change the virtual name of the ethernet port, so that part is solved now. However, even when running a speed test on the internet is still get a flatline. I don't understand it.

The issue is here, that for the system load tab ksysguard uses generic values (which I guess is hardcoded to eth0).

So in you case you need to create a new tab with a new graph and manually drag & drop in your network sensors.
Unfortunately this approach isn't described at all on the product or user page (https://kde.org/applications/system/ksysguard/ https://userbase.kde.org/KSysGuard). :-(
