Sentry Crash Report:

Description Simone Gaiarin 2016-01-06 15:30:45 UTC
When the notebook screen enters in energy saving mode and goes black, it cannot be turned on again, which should happen when the mouse is moved or a key is pressed.

To reenable it, I need to suspend the notebook and turn it on again.

If an external monitor is attached, this is not affected by the problem.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Wait screen to enter energy saving mode
2. Move mouse
3.

Actual Results:
Screen remains off

Expected Results:
Screen turn on

Notebook: Dell E7440
Graphics card: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0b)

Do you mean it doesn't wake up when it is actually turned off (ie. backlight also off) or during the grace period where it just shows a black screen (with a mouse)?
Comment 2 Simone Gaiarin 2016-01-07 10:16:21 UTC
Yes, it doesn't turn on when the backlight is off. It seems to happen when it has been off for a while.

If I've tried to replicate it I've waited some seconds after the backlight has gone off and then I moved the mouse, and it did turn on.

While when I leave it there longer it doesn't turn on.

How can I better debug this behavior?

Still have this problem also after updating to Qt 5.6 and Plasma 5.6. I've disabled the screen energy saving in "energy saving" but still the screen turn off. What other settings can I change? How can I debug it?

+1, workaround with closing laptop's cover to suspend it and restoring after that to turn the backlight on works for me too.
Comment 5 Simone Gaiarin 2016-04-05 11:42:15 UTC
Yes that workaround works also for me. Very annoying tough.
Comment 6 Matteo Croce 2016-07-18 13:13:14 UTC
another workaround is to unplug and plug the power chord.

anyway, it's duplicated of 352497
