KStars uses the KNewStuff interface to download large data (1.4 GB size). Many users do not realize the size of the download and may want to cancel it. However, no such provision exists. Closing the KNS interface or the application does not terminate the download. (I think a terminal interrupt does, though).

A button to cancel the download process, and also a way to show some of the download progress would be helpful.

And I was about to file a bug for the same thing.. funny it's been already two years and no response

KNewStuff has been not working or just rudimentarily for decades. I don't expect that to change ever. Please state the situation as of 2018.
