Sentry Crash Report:

Description Alexandre Pereira 2015-12-15 21:25:55 UTC
After unlocking, panel auto grows to accomudate for the display of the control widget.

After locking, that space is never again reclaimed. Even if restarting plasmashell. The space is always wasted and empty.

Video to show: https://youtu.be/hAF30Ng5huQ

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Panel with minimum width well bellow its current size
2.Unlock plasmashell
3.Lock plasmashell. Empty space where control widget was is never reclaimed

Confirmed.

It's an inherently broken design.
Applets try to resize to panel, panel resizes to applets. It can't ever work.

I changed this years ago, and now it seems to be fine.

Please reopen if it's still valid.
