Description qubodup 2015-12-14 00:36:50 UTC
As a user and producer of Kdenlive tutorials, I would like to be able to reduce the height of the timeline, so I have more space for other elements while not working with the timeline or in general in simple one-track projects.

This is entirely a feature request and if it is approved, I would recommend to wait until after the next release to include it, just in case it might trigger not yet discovered bugs.

screenshot of smallest possible UI element sizes

PS: I would like to allow the same for the clip monitor and the project monitor

For reference, I'm attaching a screenshot of all UI tabs with their minimum window size in a window manager without borders (awesome wm).

Qubodup, with recent beta 16.07.90, optimization fixes to the timeline have landed, see also here: http://thediveo-e.blogspot.de/2016/07/kdenlive-ui-resizable-timeline-track.html

In particular:
1. You can set the default track height in Kdenlive's configuration dialog.
2. You can still reduce/enlarge the tracks using the two zoom buttons above all track headers in the timeline. The track controls now properly stay visible/usable when reducing the track height, as they will float in line with the track title.
3. You can change the width of all track headers, by hovering over the end of the track headers, where the mouse cursor turns into a horizontal resize indication. Click, resize as you see fit. This now allows for a very lowly track layout, minimizing both vertical and horizontal space.

Please let us know if this satisfies what you were asking for in your report. If yes, then please be so kind as to close this bug report as resolved/fixed. Thank you very much for your cooperation!
