Description Thomas Van Parys 2015-12-02 07:15:27 UTC
When my laptop is connected to an external monitor, with my laptop screen as second screen, newly started Konsole instances have a plain black background instead of my usual slightly transparent one. Trying to adjust background transparency doesn't change this.

When I disconnect the external monitor, switching back to a single screen, Konsole stays black. However, a newly started Konsole will be transparent again. Also, when then again switching to dual screen, this new Konsole will stay transparent. So transparency is only influenced when starting Konsole.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Connect external monitor to laptop
2. Make sure dual screen is working (currently buggy with QT5/Plasma5)
3. Start a new Konsole instance

Actual Results:
Konsole has a black background

Expected Results:
Konsole should have a slightly transparent background, as is the fact when I am not using dual screen.

The dual screen connection is done with a HDMI cable. I am using the intel drivers. NVidia blob drivers are installed but only enabled for certain applications using bumblebee.

This actually regressed further. Not sure which update (in Plasma? In my video drivers? ...) caused this.
Currently, with Konsole 15.08.3-1, on dual screen as described above, a first instance of Konsole will be unusable, not refreshing the content and just showing a part of the desktop background.
A second instance will be usable, but the menu bar stays black.
Transparency behavior as described above didn't change.

Single screen (laptop screen only) still causes no problems at all.

I attached a screenshot of both the non-refreshing Konsole and the one with the black menu bar. Very curious where to look for the cause of this problem.

Update: the transparency didn't come back yet, but the more serious graphical problems as described above disappeared again in more recent updates.

For me this is working again since Konsole 15.12.3
Thanks :-)
