I see only webcam and screen capture as options.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install kdenlive 15.08.3 from openSUSE Leap 42.1
2.run config Wizard
3.(no capture device shows)
4. connect cam with firewire cable and set cam to play
5. cam shows it's connected to firewire

Actual Results:
camera doesn't turn up on interface nor can it be controlled such as play rewind or the like with software. Nothing shows on screen.

Expected Results:
Camera shoulsd have turned up in kdenlives interface.

Check that you don't have several versions of MLT installed OK
Try playing your video file with FFmpeg's player. From a terminal: ffplay myvideo.mpg OK
Try playing your video file with MLT's player. From a terminal: melt myvideo.mpg OK
Download this simple project file (containing color clips): test_file.kdenlive and play it with MLT's player: melt test_file.kdenlive OK

If I run dvgrab everything works.

Unfortunately after the upgrade to KF5, firewire capture was not ported. The team is currently with very limited manpower and this isn't in the roadmap at the moment.
