Description Edward O'Callaghan 2015-11-22 04:10:46 UTC
Hi,

While attempting to try out the new kdetalk.net service with the Plasma desktop chat function I attempted to register a new user via "Online accounts -> KDETalk". Upon choosing a username and checking the box to "register a new user" we are presented with a password request in a loop. This is because the XMPP server never actually sees a register new account request (I check with Ben Cooksley if he saw my new account request in his logs and he didn't see anything.

As a workaround; one may open pidgin and use it to make the request a new XMPP account on kdetalk.net, after this is successful you may use the kde telepathy program with its corresponding plasmoid in the usual sense.

Let me know how I can provide more information.
Kind Regards,
Edward.

Reproducible: Always

I have a similar issue. Could not create @kdetalk.net accounts with telepathy (with account-kcm and accounts-signon and auth-handler installed). After creating the account (with or without the option "connect when wizard is finished), it is present in the account list but nothing happens. When I then use the dropdown menu and select "availalbe", it tries to connect and ask for a password but the password I entered when creating the account doesn't work.
I had to use pidgin to create an account and then it works straight away on telepathy.

seems like @kdetalk.net is completely dead, if using Kopete or sth. else.

use @ludenfabrik.de in-band registering instead.

won't fix, I guess.
