- What I was doing when the application crashed:
just tried to login into newly installed system (opensuse leap 42.1)

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
nothing worked (plasma failed right after login proccess

- Custom settings of the application:
Virtualbox 4.3 + guest OS OpenSUSE  Leap 42.1 with all fresh apps

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Can you try give me a screenshot of your virtualbox settings please?

Also try with 3d rendering on/off

Sorry for so long answer.
Playing with 3D option can't help. + Display manager set to LightDM (SDDM shows only black screen)
