Somehow documents that are made within one program will open quite differently in the other, although both claim to have odg as their native format.
For example: Page size set in karbon to A3 is not retained in Libreoffice
Layers set in karbon are not retained in Libreoffice
Some shapes drawn in Libreoffice look very different when opened in Karbon.
