The addon is loaded, but instead of showing a clock it shows just a blank spot where it should be.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Login to KDE or Add the widget to panel

 

Actual Results:  
The widget doesn't show time, just a blank space.

Expected Results:  
The clock text should be there

The issue was my /etc/timezone file was gibberish. I don't know how it got that way, but soon as I removed it my time went back to normal with no issues. Thanks everyone for the help. Issue is resolved.
