Kbibtex is my most favorate software, and I think that a "tags" feature will perfect this program.

When using a reference management softerware, a most common function is to classify the literature into seval categoties. Though it may not directly serves to create the bibliograph when writting a paper, it really helps to make a clear vision of what a researcher is focusing on.
Folders as a common approach to serve this function is commonly supported by many softwares.
However, "tags" will serve better than "folders" due to that a paper can belong to serval categories, and using "folders" will induce duplicates.

I am using "keywords" as "tags" to serve the similar role. But "keywords" usually belongs to the metadata of a citation term and filled by author of the paper, and is usually kind of mess. They are also shown to the public, while "tags" are usually used by individuals.

If possible, I want the tags are placed on the "title" panel in the "Element Editor", then they will be more convenience to be edit than "keywords" in "Misc".

I really appreciate you great job of hacking such a useful tool. It really helps me a lot.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
feature of "tags" is supported

I think it can be realized as how "keywords" are supported.
Add a property named "tags" just as "keywords" that already exist.
Place them on the "title" panel to be edited directly.
Hope this helps ;)

First, I have noticed you are using an older version (0.5.2) of KBibTeX. There won't be any changes to this old branch, so you should check if you have to option to use 0.6 or even compile binaries yourself.

About tagging: you can assign colors to entries, which is independent of the "keywords" field (good), but you can have only color assigned to an entry at any time (bad).

Tags are definitively a good idea and I'll put it onto my long-term mental feature list, but I cannot provide you with a quick solution.

Thank you very much.
Kbibtex really helps a LOT.

As for the version, I am using windows now with all software I need but kbibtex. I cannot switch to linux because I will using surface pro4 and its pen which cannot function well with linux now or in several years later. The compiled KDE for ms is still at around version 4.10 released at 2013. I have tried to compile on ms myself several times but failed. I guess I have to wait for official release bin packet for ms.
