The regular (ctrl+c) clipboard is separate from the text selection clipboard by default. There is an option in Klipper's settings (in the "General" section) "Synchronize contents of the clipboard and the selection". Checking this should get you the expected behavior. Is that what you meant? I cannot use that setting due to another bug. Nevertheless, it would be nice if this worked by manually clicking.
