Almost forgot: I tried Kubuntu 15.04 on the same machine, but this had even worse bugs. The content of windows and the whole desktop would turn into garbage. As if it suddenly started rendering random textures onto the windows. Don't know if this is a common bug, if not the root cause may be related to this bug. Also, restarting the application experiencing this bug causes it to go away, but it always returns after a while. It fixes the problem for a longer period of time than just re-sizing the window. Change Vsync from "Automatic" -> "Never"
I have seen and experienced this on some machines. It drives you crazy, because it can work fine for long periods and then other times it occurs repeatily.
I eventually solved this by disabling "Tearing Prevention", setting it to "Never". The default setting is generally "Automatic".
In "System Settings" -> "Display and Monitor" -> "Compositor".
Tearing Prevention ("vsync") is the option.
* Nvidia graphics card was present in laptop that suffered from it the most.
Exactly how you describe and your right about there not being any information
or discussions on the issue. The biggest problem is trying to describe the
issue to report and search. You did a top effort on your description.
Detailing the error requires effort, searching for it is a real challenge.
This was about 12 months ago. I am using Korora, which is Fedora.
* I suspect that any other weird graphical glitches in the Windows or around
KDE, that this option will probably be related to it.
I have had some not very common glitches very recently, but I have just turned
that option off, on this machine now and I am confident that it will not occur
anymore.
Bug was reported against KDE4 and pertains to xinerama, neither of which are officially supported anymore. |
