I'm seeing this bug as well, after upgrading to Fedora 22, which has KDE 5. Several other applications are exhibiting the same symptom on the new system. Apparently Plasma 5 removed support for an old API for interacting with the tray area. Could kalarm be using that older API? Qt: 5.4.2 KDE Frameworks: 5.13.0 kde-plasma: 5.3.95 KAlarm: 2.11.0-5ak First time starting Kalarm it will just close upon clicking "X" After starting Kalarm a second time, it will show up in the system tray. > First time starting Kalarm it will just close upon clicking "X"

You're right! That's how it behaves for me too. How odd. Good to know, though. Thanks.
Unfortunately, these tricks didn't help here... I'm on Gentoo, I just upgraded to KDE Applications 15.08.0, I no longer have to put KAlarm in the startup scripts, and it starts itself on login to my Desktop. YMMV Same issue for me (no system tray icon, process dies on quitting window). What I have noticed is that the option View->Show in System Tray is greyed out. If one quits Kalarm and manually restarts it the option View->Show in System Tray is now available. For me, you can close it. Thank you for this useful program. Thanks for the update; closing. |
