I have a lot of images where digikam has tagged a face twice. Sometimes it's different names, sometimes the same. It would be nice if digikam would recognize that the same face can not have two names and that the same name can not appear twice on the same image.

Reproducible: Always

still valid

Hello Martin, DigiKam 7.0.0 has been released, can you please confirm whether the bug still exists?

Can you also please clarify what exactly you mean by tagging a face twice? Does the unconfirmed result after a scan report the same face tag (of the same image) twice under different tags?

Thanks
Kartik

I just checked in digikam 6.4.0, the problem is still there.

A more in-depth-description: the same face is tagged twice. There are two frames around the same face. They can have the same name, or a different.

I suspect that this can happen if one re-runs the face recognition process twice (as I did in an attempt to find faces that had not been recognized during the first run).

To prevent such behavior, digikam should have the rule that the same face can not have two face-tags, and that the same name can not appear twice in the same image (which shouldn't be possible until you are doing an artistic image retouching).

Also, there should/could/would be nice if there was a process to clean up images would double tagging.

Martin,

It will be better to check with current 7.0.0-beta3 available here :

https://files.kde.org/digikam/

... as we work a lots to improve face engine in this future version.

Thanks in advance

I'll try an appimage. What would you suggest I'd do after downloading? Rescan a folder that contains double face tags?

Use another Linux account, As 7.0.0 has difference between 6.x in database schema. Do not use yet in production.

Prepare a set of image to test. create a small collection and try to play with Face management as expected...

I would say that is possible to have the same face multiple times in a single image. For example, someone with a mirror. Or people holding a picture of themselves. Or a collage image where different pictures of the same person.

Also, what would happen with the pictures that already have the same face multiple times? Would Digikam remove all but one? Leave as they are?

I think this should be an option, not a mandatory requirment.
