Description Nick Cross 2015-06-24 08:52:48 UTC
Dual screen display with Konversation 1.6 running the notifications from Konversation are appearing on the non-primary screen.

Reproducible: Always

Thanks for the report

Notifications currently appear on whichever desktop/panel has the notification applet. At this point there are no plans to change that (which is not to say that this will never change, just no plans at the moment).

I think my report needs clarity - my apologies ...

So I have

Left Hand Monitor ........................... Right hand laptop monitor
Configured as primary ........................ Configured as secondary
with Panel on it

I would expect the notifications to appear on the left hand where the panel/sys tray (etc) is. Unfortunately they are appearing on the right hand side. I am not sure if this is a fault with Konversation or with the Plasma shell. I haven't tried (yet) restarting Plasma to see if the problem goes away...

Ah ok, that's a different issue then.

Please try restarting plasmashell, you can run "killall plasmashell && plasmashell &" from krunner or konsole.

Wow. That fixed it! I wonder if it was a residue quirk of a fresh dual monitor configuration (which actually hard locked the window manager on the initial connection).
Comment 5 Nick Cross 2015-06-24 14:02:02 UTC
I think there are also issues with KScreen - undocking the laptop - I had to restart the panel (via your plasmashell command) to get access to the taskbar etc again.
Comment 6 Martin Klapetek 2015-07-07 10:04:56 UTC
Yeah that looks more like a multi-screen handling issue. The notifications applet probably does not receive the notification about screen layout changes.
Comment 7 Martin Klapetek 2016-01-11 20:06:40 UTC
I've rewritten the notification screen handling in 5.5.3.

Can you please test and confirm whether you're still seeing these issues?
Comment 8 Nick Cross 2016-01-26 11:11:06 UTC
From what I can see the notifications are appearing on the desktop with the panel. There are still quirks with multiscreen handling (screen waking up etc) but that is unrelated to this issue. Thanks!

Thanks for testing!
