The program worked for a while.  but then after I opened it,  I tried to load one of my pictures it crashed and shut down.  I opened again and tried to start a new one it to crashed and shut down on me.   I have the program loaded on a computer with windows 8.1 and for a while it worked well.  

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open one of my saved drawing it crashes
2. reopens program
3. opens a new drawing and it crashes

Actual Results:  
it crashes unable to retirve work or make new one.  I love the program would like to work on my art. 

Expected Results:  
The software should have either open one of my saved files and allowed me to work on it.  and also it should have allowed me to open a new file to start and new drawing.

Please help I like the program and it is fun, but it keeps crashing on me.  I even uninstalled the program and reinstalled it,  but that did not fix the problem.  I even updated windows 8 and my video card didn't fix the problem.  I tired looking for an update for the program but could not fine one.  Please help and thank you.

This is probably the same as the preset history docker related crash in 2.9.4.7. (348681)
I encountered this in 2.9.4.7,  resetting the preference(delete kritarc) stopped the crash. (reinstalling does not remove the preference, so it would not stop the crash)
From my testing in 2.9.5.0 the same preference file did not crash Krita. So possibly updating to Krita 2.9.5.1 would solve the issue.

Could you please check the latest version as Guruguru said and tell us whether the problem is gone? You can also try to rename your config folder:

press windows-r
type %AppData%
in the explorer file manager window, go to Roaming
rename the krita folder to krita.bak

Or start krita in clean-config mode by starting it keeping ctrl-alt-shift pressed during startup.

As guru says, this is probably fixed by now.
