We dropped support for the super legacy X system tray protocol and only support the AppIndicator/StatusNotifierItem protocol For any Qt5 app this will happen automatically, all KDE4 apps used this directly, and there are modules for GTK. Plain Qt4 is missing, unless that app adds support themselves. See http://blog.martin-graesslin.com/blog/2014/06/where-are-my-systray-icons/ The GTK version seems to have support: http://www.webupd8.org/2010/09/install-gtk-recordmydesktop-with.html I tried media-video/gtk-recordmydesktop-0.3.8-r3 and media-video/qt-recordmydesktop-0.3.8-r2 and neither showed a systray button. FYI: KUbuntu 16.04.1, gtk-recordmydesktop 0.3.8-4.1ubuntu1 — systray button exists, but has no icon; i.e. looks like a gap between other systray buttons (Keyboard Layout and Audio Volume), so not easy to guess that it belongs to recordmydesktop. |
