Message as plain text

Description Rewarp 2015-05-15 02:02:14 UTC
A friend of mine recently set up GPG encryption on his Apple computer with GPG Tools. I am however receiving his encrypted messages as attachments rather than as encrypted messages. This means I have to separately download and decrypt each message separately - which can get rather cumbersome.

I am currently using the latest KMail from the openSUSE Frameworks 5 package in Plasma 5.

This problem manifests itself on 4.14.6 in openSUSE 13.2 and 4.13.3 on Kubuntu 14.04.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Receive encrypted message from this user.

Actual Results:
Instead of the message being recognised as an encrypted message, it has to be downloaded and decrypted outside of KMail.

Expected Results:
Recognise and allow decryption of the message within KMail.

I have attached the encrypted message files in question to this report.
Comment 4 Rewarp 2015-07-31 02:22:55 UTC
I have received another encrypted message that is not detected as encrypted. I had to save and manually decrypt the text outside of kmail. This is what it appears like in the message body.

I wrote too soon. Replying to the message above shows the decrypted message in the text editor. So technically, it is decrypted, just in a very weird way.
Comment 6 tomaggio 2016-01-17 12:34:03 UTC
I can confirm this BUG too.
With kmail 15.12.1 5.1.1. The Mailbody is empty when i receive a encrypted Mail.
My workaround is to press the answer Button and then the dialog comes up for key password.
Comment 7 Rewarp 2016-03-16 23:04:43 UTC
I am now running KMail 5.1.2, and the workaround method no longer works.

I am back to downloading the message separately before I am able to decrypt the message.

Here's a screenshot as proof.

Hi;
With kmail 5.1.3 it works again. So for me, this Bug is solved.
Comment 9 tomaggio 2016-03-20 12:07:46 UTC
But I've have to say: I'm not on Suse sorry, but on Chakra Linux

Thanks. I will wait and see if it works on 5.1.3.

I have confirmed that messages sent with the attachment above are still not being decrypted. I am at a loss as what is wrong here.
Comment 12 Sandro Knauß 2016-06-22 15:12:09 UTC
Can you actually add a complete mail, that is not detected correctly. Maybe it is the same like:

Message as plain text

By full message, I assume you mean the entire source view of the message. I have included it in this attachment, and would also like to confirm that this correspondence also uses Apple Mail, as mentioned in the bug report you attached.
Comment 14 Sandro Knauß 2016-06-23 08:42:47 UTC
Thanks for attaching the mail. For me it looks like it is is exactly the same #360910

I have tested it with 5.2.1 and can confirm, that kmail doesn't detect it as encrypted message. With git master kmail detects this correctly as encryptd messsge and asks for the password to decrypt. So with KDE Application 16.08 the problem is solved.
