- What I was doing when the application crashed:  I had removed all of the plasma5/KF5 I could possibly part with the exception of one or two things I needed to try LXQT/RazorQT (very nice, once they were tweaked--actually ran properly )

So what is either the cause or the solution to the crash?  I have already had to push back a trip to Paris 4 days because of lost work time dealing with this crap.  Fortunately, LXQT was able to bail me out.  If you are going to report this as a duplicate of a bug, please be sure it is (I was previously told that it was because I had KF5 libraries mixed in and someone expected a different API and had the seg fault.).  I spent hours digging out all but two libraries (both listed as dependencies for LXQT), but I can play with that in another environment if ditching them means I get a working desktop back).
