Description Antonis G. 2015-04-05 15:06:18 UTC
Applet tooltips are more compact but tooltips of tasks and launchers still use a lot of space.

Reproducible: Always

There's a paintedWidth and paintedHeight property on the thumbnail which would allow the tooltip to be more compact, however I think it was decided against resizing the tooltip since that is pretty ugly in an X world.

There was also talk about making tooltips generally deliberately not as cramped - personally I have no real preference.

Once the Morphing tooltips effect lands we could perhaps try to adjust the tooltip size according to paintedWidth/size again? You didn't want to resize the dialog because, X, but with the effect it should be less irritating, right?

Should we close this bug report? We're not going to change the design based on a bug report, are we?
Comment 5 Eike Hein 2016-02-08 08:40:43 UTC
I have to see the effect in action first (if it's like the animated window resize I'm not a fan).

I guess we can close this now that task manage rtooltips were made much more compact in 5.9
