One of the configurations for lightdm is "user-session". This option allows to define the default session used for login. See "Changing the default session" on

http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/LightDM/CommonConfiguration/

However, lightdm-kde just ignores this and always defaults to the last used "Previously used session". This seems to happen here

https://projects.kde.org/projects/playground/base/lightdm/repository/revisions/master/entry/themes/classic/contents/ui/main.qml#L233

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. uncomment and set "user-session" on /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf to something in /usr/share/xsessions
2. restart

Actual Results:
Default session used by lightdm kde greeter is still "Previously used Session"

Expected Results:
Default session should have changed to whatever was selected.

It also doesn't seem to honor the .dmrc (last session). On my systems Session=plasma and lightdm still doesn't start plasma.

Work okay with the gtk theme.

We no longer use lightDM, having moved to SDDM several years ago. As such, this bug report is no longer applicable. Bugs reports for the new SDDM-based login screen should be filed to one of two places:

1. Visual/UI bugs with the login screen UI itself, or feature requests: plasmashell | Theme - Breeze
2. Bugs with the login/user switching process: https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues
