System Info: Dell Latitude D820 Intel Core Duo 2 2.66 Ghz (With VT-X SSE 1,2 And 3 With NX Bit And PAE) 4024MB (4GB) DDR2 Dual Channel Mode nVidia G72M (GeForce Go 7400) 7400 RPM Seagate HDD (Not SSD) This is from a clean installation? What version? This Is From A Clean Installation And Kubuntu 14.10 x86 I have the same error here. The first login after a clean installation of Kubuntu beta 2 is no problem. After rebooting I can't get plasmashell to start properly. The Splash-Screen takes really long to vanish and afterwards only the Programms, assigned to Autostart are showing up, but no panel or anything else shows up. I can start the Starter (Alt-F2) but it doesn't respond to any command written into. Deleting ~/.local, ~/.kde, ~/.cache and ~/.config makes it possible to login again, but obiously all the data and settings are defaulted. look for a .cache/something.lock file Theres no such file. Deleting the config folder bringe plasmashell back to Start so it must be a file inside .config vor am I wrong Herr? Update: As the bug continued to bother me I did a deeper investigation and found out that i can login without freezing plasmashell after deleting ~/ .local/share/kscreen . there is only one file in there called abc3ad359db5651344cef45b894ddb4a . Maybe this helps to solve the Problem? I Found A Fix After Instalation I Have To Boot It The Flag nomodeset And Install The Package nvidia-304 (My Graphics Driver From nVidia) Then Reboot Without The nomodeset Flag And Thank's For All Y'all Help Good to know that you found a solution. I'm struggling with it the whole time. All my trys from up above are useless, it's still freezing. I use xfce right now which works for me... |
