The brush works correctly before I tried the Calligraphy tool. After a few strokes with Calligraphy tool, the brush tool won't work again. Also, the calligraphy tool seems to get stuck periodically.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use brush tool to draw
2. Use Calligraphy tool to draw
3. Use brush tool to draw again

Actual Results:  
Step three brush won't draw anything.

Expected Results:  
Brush tool should work.

Yes, I can confirm. 
I'm able to reproduce this bug also on Linux Ubuntu and Krita: 2.9.0 (git 9a0eb68).

...but, there's a reason. After using the Calligraphy tool, you're on a vector layer, in where of course, you can't paint with the "Freehand Brush Tool". By selecting a Paint layer after, lets you continue to paint normally. So it's not a bug. 
It should be made more evident to a users, that they are trying to paint on a Vector layer.
