I rate my raw photos with stars or label them with flags after importing, so afterwards I filter them by 1-star or by a red flag to delete the bad ones. digiKam freezes for 1-3 seconds after I rate an image while in preview mode. If I try moving forward to the next image, then the focus box/highlight selection box or whatever its called might move to the next one, or it might remain on the current one. After a second or three the thumbnail of the image I just rated gets updated. Why? If you try quickly rating over 200 shots then these little delays become a problem. Rating a photo doesn't change the image in any way, it's just a metadata operation, so it would be nice if this change was instant. Maybe the regenerated thumbnail is the clue as to why it's slow - digiKam should not need to do that as the thumb didn't change, just the rating or label did.

No reproducible here.

Please update to last 4.9.0, and if it's reproducible, please turn on digiKam debug spaces and run it on the console as explained in this page :

Confirmed, cannot reproduce in 4.9.0.
