The exists a formula to workout how much memory is used by an existing image when loaded into Krita. This information is static and has to be manually generated each time the image changes.

Possible a better way would be to have the UI show this information in a dynamic fashion as new layers are added or the image is cropped etc.

I ran into an issue the other day where it seemed that I was having issues with the colour picker as it turns out it was more likely a general memory issue since the canvas was very large and had a 16 bit depth.

Seeing how much memory is available on the display before doing changes can help in the process if deciding if a save should be done before attempting the change ( I will certainly appreciate this info, from experiance)

Reproducible: Didn't try
