In the first report type "1. Income and Expenses " (<- my not be the correct name since I can't run the kmymoney in English) a total row is printed in the textual form.
However, in the bar plot the total bar doesn't exist. 
I have one income and one expenses category which are related, and I'm interested in the sum of both over time, thus a plot of a total bar would be nice.

Does setting the details to 'Group' help in your case?  Sorry, can't currently run KMyMoney in German.

Tanks. Set to amount does the trick. Missed that setting.
