Description Jean-Christophe Baptiste 2015-02-06 19:02:41 UTC
It is possible to set activity specific settings regarding power saving.
Regarding the screen, it would be nice to have the same for the screensaver and the lock settings.

In some activities, let's say teaching, I do not want to have my screen automatically locked, whereas in office situation I would like to have some aggressive period.

This would make a tool like Caffeine unecessary.

Reproducible: Always

@Ivan: any thoughts on that?
Comment 2 Ivan Čukić 2015-12-15 17:16:38 UTC
The power management is a real corner-case of activities, this would be as well.

Though I do see the use-case, and agree with it. Presentation mode and screen locking are a bad combo.

This was discussed for the next-gen Activities refresh for Plasma 6, and ultimately we've decided against it. We're going to double down on Activities as providing containers for apps and the specific use cases they enable, and we think power management and lock screen settings make the most sense to be global, rather than per activity. Thanks for the idea anyway though!
