when in a message window (as opposed to the main window with accounts and message list), there's no way to navigate to the next or previous mail. one has to switch back to the main window to do that (and is cursed with yet another window opening and cluttering the screen).
i think it is necessary to be able to navigate through mails even from inside a message window, thereby replacing the content with the current mail rather than opening window over window over window.
i consider this a bug rather than a feature request, since this is obviously a lack of functionality and other clients provide that as part of normal user experience (not some fancy add-on or such).

(i honestly never got the hang of what's so great with MDI -- it's cluttering the desktop, the application list, and the task bar, but does not provide any improvement in terms of usability over SDI).

Reproducible: Always

For me it's not a bug but a feature.

i am grateful to be allowed to even utter a word, mere mortal i am -- and i certainly wouldn't trouble your highness to give some slight hint at a reason for that pronouncement.
certainly, you highness fancy is reason enough.
i deeply apologize to have disturbed your lordship's sleep.

to difficult?
well. let me put it bluntly: either you provide a reason for downgrading or leave it as it is.
i gave a reason why i consider this a bug -- and from the usability POV a rather grave at that.
you did nothing of that sort, but high-handedly changed it to "wishlist", just because you feel like it, never bothering to provide a reason.

but never mind. your lordly action was the last push i needed to get rid of kmail again, together with that horrible akonadi stuff.

Perhaps you need to know what is a wishlist and a bug.
It's not a bug because you think it will better to have it.

Kmail works well without it.
It's not a feature which limits kmail work.

So no it's a wishlist.

And I don't like the tone that you use.
If you don't like kmail and all the work that kdepim team makes for it, you are free to use another mailer.

After that if you think that I change it as wishlist just because I don't want to fix it, you are just stupid !
I change it as wishlist because it's a wishlist.

If you think that it's a real bug which doesn't allow you to work on kmail patch are welcome !
Otherwise you can use another mailer and stop to use this ton because you are not happy by my changes.
