Description andreas_k 2015-01-03 13:46:17 UTC
For the sidebar Okular use the icons for toolbars. the toolbar icons are made for icons with the size 22x22 px. The user can change the icon size for the sidebar, but the standard size is too big for the used icons as you can see in the linked picture.
In addition I ask the icon designer for the Breeze Icons Uri, if we can make icons for a larger size, but the answer can be read here. https://github.com/NitruxSA/plasma-next-icons/issues/26
could you change the standard icon size into 22x22 px. The user can change the icon size if he like to have larger icons.

Reproducible: Always

Why would we do that?
Comment 2 andreas_k 2015-01-03 22:20:43 UTC
another possibility would be to make sidebar icons which could also be used for larger sizes like you know it from dolphin.

Sorry. maybe the Screen Shot will help.

The icons at the sidebar are from the breeze icon theme. they are designed for 22x22 px but they will be used for a larger size and as you can see in the screenshot the icons look bold.

Well, then design the icons for 48x48 that are the size that is used there?

After some discussion, it appears there is insufficient settled guidance regarding the use of icons in the sidebar or the use of sidebars in general. Whatever exists seems insufficient to preclude the use of icons in the way that Okular has used them here.

Since sidebars of this sort are a common pattern, it is clear we need to spend some time understanding their use and settling on some clearer design guidance. Until then it appears we do not have sufficient guidance against which to validate this bug report. So it seems reasonable to close this bug report.
