- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Launched (gnome) nautilus.

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
Repeated crashing not recovered by either 
kwin --replace
or by manually killing all the kwin's (there were many) and trying to run kwin again.

finally tryied killing nautilus which did launch kwin successfully.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Either a bug in Xlib or the attr.visual pointer (we just queried) is junk.

Can you dump "xprop" and "xwininfo" on the nautilus window and "xprop -root" w/ and w/o the nautilus window?
