Description thibaut.verron 2014-11-18 21:23:19 UTC
Hello,

It appears that the spacing around the icons (especially towards the edge of the panel) can no longer be adjusted. On small panels, this results in ridiculously tiny icons.

Size 1: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27582148/spacing-icononlytaskman2.png
Size 2: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27582148/spacing-icononlytaskman1.png
Size 3: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27582148/spacing-icononlytaskman.png

As you can see, the plasmoid looks "just wrong" at sizes 1 and 2, and it actually hardly usable at size 1. At size 3, the icons look like icon, but now the panel is unreasonably large. At all sizes, there is quite some wasted space around the icons that could be used to display the icons in a larger size.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add the icon only task manager to a panel
2. Reduce the size of the panel to ~60px

Actual Results:
Tiny icons, lots of empty space around the icons

Expected Results:
Better space usage

A few possibilities that come to mind:
- allow the users to adjust the spacing (I think that I have seen screenshots indicating that it was possible in the plasma4 version of this plasmoid)
- have the margins scaled together with the icons

The task buttons respect the margin sizes in the theme's task button element. I suspect the theme you're using simply specifies quite wide margins.

Closing as downstream bug, since it's not something we can fix on our end as this theme seems to be a 3rd party.
If anything needs to be changed to make the theme work, please report a bug to plasma-framework.
