Can you test with the last 4.5.0 version release for Windows today : http://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/digiKam-installer-4.5.0-win32.exe.mirrorlist Also run digiKam following instruction under Windows given to the page listed below, to get more information in the backtrace. Your report do not sow any implementation from digiKam relevant of Import tool. https://www.digikam.org/contrib Gilles Caulier same behavior with 4.5 gdb output: [Thread 192.0x1434 exited with code 0] [Thread 192.0x1254 exited with code 0] [Thread 192.0x6f0 exited with code 0] [New Thread 192.0x19c8] warning: digikam(192)/phonon (KDE plugin): Can not create backend object from factory for "VLC" , "phonon_vlc" : "Could not find plugin 'VLC' for application 'digikam'" warning: WARNING: bool __thiscall Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend(void) phonon backend plugin could not be loaded warning: digikam(192)/phonon (KDE plugin): Can not create backend object from factory for "VLC" , "phonon_vlc" : "Could not find plugin 'VLC' for application 'digikam'" warning: WARNING: bool __thiscall Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend(void) phonon backend plugin could not be loaded warning: digikam(192)/phonon (KDE plugin): Can not create backend object from factory for "VLC" , "phonon_vlc" : "Could not find plugin 'VLC' for application 'digikam'" warning: WARNING: bool __thiscall Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend(void) phonon backend plugin could not be loaded warning: digikam(192)/phonon (KDE plugin): Can not create backend object from factory for "VLC" , "phonon_vlc" : "Could not find plugin 'VLC' for application 'digikam'" warning: WARNING: bool __thiscall Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend(void) phonon backend plugin could not be loaded warning: digikam(192)/phonon (KDE plugin): Can not create backend object from factory for "VLC" , "phonon_vlc" : "Could not find plugin 'VLC' for application 'digikam'" warning: WARNING: bool __thiscall Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend(void) phonon backend plugin could not be loaded warning: WARNING: Phonon::createPath: Cannot connect Phonon::MediaObject ( no objectName ) to Phonon::AudioOutput ( n objectName ). warning: digikam(192)/phonon (KDE plugin): Can not create backend object from factory for "VLC" , "phonon_vlc" : "Could not find plugin 'VLC' for application 'digikam'" warning: WARNING: bool __thiscall Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend(void) phonon backend plugin could not be loaded warning: WARNING: Phonon::createPath: Cannot connect Phonon::MediaObject ( no objectName ) to Phonon::VideoWidget ( n objectName ). warning: digikam(192)/phonon (KDE plugin): Can not create backend object from factory for "VLC" , "phonon_vlc" : "Could not find plugin 'VLC' for application 'digikam'" warning: WARNING: bool __thiscall Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend(void) phonon backend plugin could not be loaded Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. [Switching to Thread 192.0x1c60] 0x0000002b in ?? () Ananta, did you take a care to install Phonon::VLC plugin into KDE with digiKam windows installer ? Gilles vlc 2.0.6, phonon 4.6.0, phonon-vlc 0.6.2 are installed. Perhaps it is installed to the wrong location. andre, could you quit digikam, copy phonon_vlc.dll from %DIGIKAM_INSTALL_LOCATION%/bin/phonon_backend into %DIGIKAM_INSTALL_LOCATION%/bin (i.e. copy it into the parent directory), start digikam, and try again? Other phonon*.dlls are in the bin folder too. But copying the the file phonon_vlc.dll does not change the crash behavior. gdb output is the same. *** Bug 342108 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Created attachment 90090 [details] attachment-23096-0.html Giles...thanks for processing this. My experience with DigiKam has been rather disappointing. I tried it because it got some praise for its features; however the Windows version has had numerous problems with basic features and notable counter intuitive user interface issues. Can't add albums at the top level and having to add collections via settings is one example. Another is upon first usage the menu does not show and a right click on the toolbar does not give me the option to show it. Also it gives no messages when it is creating the database from a large numbers of images so I can't tell whether it is frozen or working. Another bug...it appears to hang when I try to search for all jpeg files with four star ratings. I hope the solution you are working on is Windows based; most of the world does not want to reboot their system to do their photo editting and cataloging on Linux. Gilles Caulier digiKam 4.7.0 for Windows is available : http://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/digiKam-installer-4.7.0-1-win32.exe.mirrorlist Please test and report. Thanks in advance Gilles Caulier I have the same Problem. Sadly the bugtracker can not directly load my backtrace info :-( The bug: I use Windows 7 32 bit. Digikam 4.9. If i click on import (toolbar) digikam crashed immediately - no chance to import something. Same if i try it from the menu. Tell me what info I should provide - I would be glad to help with this. Best. Fabian Bug exsist in Version 4.9 too. Upload from Bug description failed so i saved everything and add it to attachments.
