Some folks have reported similar problems in 4.14.1. It could be related. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338406 Can you reproduce the issue with the just released PowerDevil 5.1.2? There have been fixes to the upower backend not properly updating batery status on newer upower versions (that is the remaining time issue you saw, potentially didn't update percentage either).
