So meta+tab shortcut is global shortcut which was broken in khotkeys and is fixed recently *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 337230 *** I would like to ask If the keyboard shortcuts for switching activities do work for someone using the fixed version of khotkeys.
I have exactly the same symptoms as Gandalf described, however I already have the recently fixed version of khotkeys (in Archlinux).
In terminal, I tried to stop kactivitymanagerd and then start it again, I get these errors in the output:
org.kde.kactivities.activities: Starting the KDE Activity Manager daemon QDateTime("2014-10-26 14:46:09.496 CET Qt::LocalTime")
Trying to open ksycoca from "/home/oliver/.cache/ksycoca5"

org.kde.kactivities.application: [ FAILED ] loading: "Sqlite Feeder" "The shared library was not found."
org.kde.kactivities.application: [ FAILED ] loading: "Share-Like-Connect" "The shared library was not found."
org.kde.kactivities.application: [ FAILED ] loading: "Activity Templates" "The shared library was not found."
org.kde.kactivities.application: [ FAILED ] loading: "Virtual desktop switcher" "The shared library was not found."
Service started, version: 6.2.0
I can produce these errors on both:
Archlinux, 64bit, kactivities-frameworks-5.3.0
Kubuntu plasma5 32bit iso in VirtualBox from 17. October (also kactivities 5.3)
So maybe, this is actually a bug in kactivities ?
