When I load backend with KSCREEN_BACKAND variable set to XRandR it loads XRandR 1.1 backend. In my opinion normal XRandR backend should be loaded in XRandR 1.4 environment.

If you want the XRandr1.1 backend, you have to specify that using 

export KSCREEN_BACKEND=XRandR11
