when using kdenlive secting help and kdenlive handbook results in a page saying

The requested documentation was not found on your computer. Normally, KDE looks for application handbooks in a location that depends on how KDE was installed on your computer. There are a number of possible reasons why it could not find the documentation you requested. The document might not exist, or it may not have been installed along with the application.

1. Start Kdenlive
2. select Help from the top menu
3. select kdenlive handbook

I found this bug in Linuxmint17 which loads version: 0.9.10-0ubuntu0~sunab~trusty1

So I installed Kdenlive Version 0.9.10 Using KDE Development Platform 4.13.3 from ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release and reproduced the problem there.

The tarball for 0.9.8 has the docbooks in all languages included, building this tarball from sources the action Help (F1) opens the Kdenlive Quick Start Guide properly.

The package kdenlive-data (0.9.8-1ubuntu2) install the index.docbook file in a wrong format:
/usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/kdenlive/index.docbook.gz

correct format is /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/kdenlive/index.docbook

So this is a packaging bug.

Additionally two more bugs in kdenlive-data (0.9.8-1ubuntu2):
All language docbooks and translations are missing in the package kdenlive-data (0.9.8-1ubuntu2), but present in the older package kdenlive-data (0.9.6-5ubuntu1)

Hello,

Thanks for the report and analysis, I've transferred the issue to the Debian packager[1], changes should be propagated to Ubuntu & derivatives.
