favicons management is kinda weird. In bookmarks editor, when I do "extras - update all symbols" most of them are updated, but not all (some sites might not have one, but others do).

But those updated favicons do only show up partially in the bookmarks toolbar, and don't get saved. Next time I open rekonq, all favicons are gone.

As rekonq is basically discontinued, I am closing this bug as wontfix.
