I attached PDF file which opens too long in okular. It opens much faster in xpdf.

Reproducible: Always

1. Download and open file

Which version of poppler do you have? which version of xpdf?

poppler-utils version 0.24.5-2ubuntu4
poppler-data version 0.4.6-4 

I checked this file on various pdf browsers, results:
Sumatra PDF 2.5.2 (Windows 7) - 30 seconds
Adobe Reader 11.0.0 (Windows 7) - 12 seconds
xpdf 3.03 (Kubuntu 14.04) - 11 seconds
okular 0.19.3 (Kubuntu 14.04) - 16 seconds

Test machine:
AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE (4 x 3,4 GHz)
GeForce GTX 550 Ti (latest proprietary drivers installed)
4 GB DDR3 ram
Kubuntu 14.04 LTS/Windows 7 SP1 (both 64-bit)
Kernel: Linux 3.16.1

I can't reproduce such a big difference, in any case it'd be because of poppler the pdf rendering library we use, so please report the bug upstream at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ and see if anyone there would be able to fix such bug.
