Can you please post your graph card details (model, drivers)? Did it work some time ago for you? $ lspci | grep NV 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107 [GeForce GT 640] (rev a1) 01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GK107 HDMI Audio Controller (rev a1) It's a ZOTAC GeForce GT 640 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2898930) Using NVIDIA binary drivers version 304.88, Linux-x86_64. I am using KWin with compositing enabled and several effects, but disabling KWin's compositing using it's builtin shortcut (Alt+Shift+F12), the problem still occurs. If it (somehow) matters, I'm accessing the RDP through an SSH tunnel to a remote network. Please let me know if you need any other details. Thanks. In case it is helpful, here is the application logging output where I start KRDC, connect to the remote desktop, go to Bookmarks->Add Bookmark and the screen turns blue: liam@aether:liam :) krdc Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf", line 14: reading configurations from ~/.fonts.conf is deprecated. tp-qt 0.9.3 DEBUG: Register StreamTubeClient with name "krdc_rfb_handler" tp-qt 0.9.3 DEBUG: Client registered - busName: "org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Client.krdc_rfb_handler" objectPath: "/org/freedesktop/Telepathy/Client/krdc_rfb_handler" interfaces: ("org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Client.Handler") krdc(24346)/kdeui (kdelibs): Attempt to use QAction "remote_desktop_dockwidget" with KXMLGUIFactory! Also, this has been happening since I started regularly using KRDC about four months ago. Since that time I have upgraded 2-3 versions of Linux Mint and 2-3 versions of KDE starting with 4.8 through to 4.11. KRDC RDP support is based on freerdp. Please try to run xfreerdp from a terminal. It that works, it's most probably not a driver issue. @Liam: Please see my question above. Can't reproduce this issue now. The remote desktop grab the keyboard input, so I can't launch bookmark dialog inside the remote desktop. And doing this outside of the remote desktop window, the bookmark dialog shows without affecting the remote desktop. |
Created attachment 88183 [details] Shows my remote Win7 desktop in the aperture between the Remote Desktops sidebar and the KRDC Blue Screen of Doom If I connect to a remote desktop over RDP to a Windows 7 box and then open the Bookmarks dialog (either intentionally or inadvertently with Ctrl+B when trying to bold something on the remote desktop), the Add Bookmark dialog appears, but the desktop behind it becomes blue and inaccessible, no matter what I do, until I disconnect and reconnect. Furthermore, I know this is not a problem with the protocol or connection, but instead it is clearly a problem with the user interface. I know this because of the attached screenshot, which clearly shows my Win7 desktop in the margin between the blue and the Remote Desktops sidebar. I CAN interact with the desktop through this small aperture. Nonetheless, no operation on my part will resolve this problem short of disconnecting and reconnecting. On an auxiliary note, very often KRDC disrespects the Grab All Possible Keys option by allowing Ctrl+B to open that dialog, thus rendering my current session worthless simply because I attempted to bold something. PLEASE fix this problem. It is driving me mad.
